The Zoning Commission establishes, promulgates, and enforces the Town’s Zoning Regulations.

Redding’s first Zoning Regulations, adopted in 1950, aimed to preserve the predominantly residential and farming characteristics of the community while protecting the health, safety, and general welfare of residents. The Regulations, amended over the years with the last major revision in 1996, balance the rights of individual property owners with community goals to preserve Redding’s character. The Commission regulates special use permits, accessory apartment permits, land clearing and re-grading permits, as well as residential and commercial uses and lot requirements. It has established specific “zones” within the Town to group similar uses together.

The Commission meets regularly on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Redding Town Hall Hearing Room (or as otherwise posted) at 7:30 PM and holds public hearings for any changes in the Zoning Regulations or applications requiring Public Hearings.

Members of the Zoning Commission are elected Town officials, while alternates are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for four-year terms.
