September 8, 2026 Special Town Meeting Info.

A Special Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Redding Community Center.

The purpose of the Special Town meeting is to consider and vote on the use of the Local Capital Improvement Program (LoCIP) grant to replace the steps at Town Hall, railings, the accessibility ramp, and the Bilco doors to the basement.  LoCip is a formula based State of Connecticut program that awards capital improvement funds to Municipalities for qualifying capital projects.

The Why:

The steps, ramp, and railings are in disrepair and present a hazard to visitors to Town Hall. An ADA audit found the steps and ramp are not ADA compliant. This project will bring building access into compliance with the ADA.

Project Cost:

The cost of the project is $90,456.50 funded in full by the LoCIP grant.
The Town has an available balance in its LoCIP fund of: $484,533

Eligibility:

Qualified projects include road, bridge or public building construction (non-school) activities pursuant to C.G.S. § 7-535 through 7-538.
Projects must be included in the Town’s Capital Plan.
