Youth Basketball League
Our basketball program focuses on skill instruction, the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our coaches are parent volunteers, and what makes our program special is that each team averages only 7-9 players, allowing kids to get plenty of “touches” on the basketball. Every player gets equal playing time, regardless of ability. We believe that through playing, kids develop skills, confidence, and teamwork. Join us, no matter your child’s ability! Each week includes one practice and a game on Saturday at varying times.

Attendance at the ratings clinic is crucial for creating fair teams. All participants are expected to attend, and all ratings will be held at the RCC gym.
Games will be on Saturdays, starting December 6th , with one weekday practice for each team.
Registration on or after your child’s clinic will only be accepted if space permits.

The leagues success always depends on the commitment of volunteer coaches. If you like to work with kids or have the willingness to learn how to, we will teach you. Come be a positive influence on a child’s development!
Anyone who is interested in coaching should contact the Park & Recreation office no later than October 31 , 2025.
Our goal again this season is to include the coaches in the team selections. In order to do this, it is important that coaches attend the ratings clinics and the team making session immediately following.

Sponsors are needed to offset the cost of team uniforms. It’s also a great way to advertise should you own a local business. Please support youth sports by calling for sponsorship information.

If you have a basketball background and a desire to learn the finer points of the game, then refereeing may be for you. Referees and scorekeepers should contact Park and Recreation by November 10, 2025. The pre-season referee’s clinic will be held on a Saturday, November 15 9:00am at Redding Community Center. Referees must be 16 years old. Those interested in scorekeeping only should contact Park and Recreation dwadsworth@reddingct.gov for more details.
