The Redding Community Center opened in August of 2002 and is a valuable resource for the town. The building houses the Heritage Center for Seniors, Park and Recreation offices, a large and a small shared program space and a gymnasium. On the property there are three ball fields which are used by the town’s youth and adult sports groups. There are also four tennis courts on site and the property adjoins the elementary school playground which is available after school hours.
The Community Center gym is also used for many organized youth sports group, Park and Recreation after school classes and there are several drop in open gym times organized for various age groups.
Based on availability, the building is open to individuals or groups for rental. Community groups and individuals wishing to take advantage of the community center for meetings or functions should contact Rob Blick for more information about rates and availability. Once you know availability and pricing, you may choose to reserve the facility formally by picking up an “Application for Use of RCC” form at the Heritage Center office, Park and Recreation office, Town Hall. Applications may also be downloaded from the Town website under “Forms-Park and Recreation“.
SEASONAL ICE RINK
We will not be setting up the outdoor ice rink this winter at RCC. It took great amounts of time, energy, and money for only a handful of available skating days each winter. The weather frequently made it impossible to maintain even if we had staff and volunteers willing to get the snow off in a timely manner. We also had multiple incidents of vandalism in the last few years. Despite our best efforts, having only a small amount of skating days is the reason we chose not to set it up this year.
