Topstone is Redding’s 280-acre park with a picturesque lake and sandy beach used for swimming & kayaking, plus nature trails and even a beach for dogs.
Later in the summer, we will be offering special events mostly created by our lifeguard staff, check out the Topstone Events Calendar as the summer progresses.
Dogs are welcome to enjoy Topstone Park unleashed “once they are 50 feet into the trails” provided they are under the close control of their owner. We have seen some people’s dogs far away from their owners. We ask that your dog be close to you and that you have a leash with you should you need it. Please be sensitive to all patrons especially those with young children and other dog walkers.
Per our town ordinance: Dogs must be on a leash at all times while in the common areas of the Park; the beach, the driveway and the parking lots. Dogs are also prohibited from the beach area May 15 to Labor Day. Click here to view ordinance. Thanks for your help and, of course, cleanup after your dog so we can all enjoy the park.
Topstone Park Beach
Topstone Park Beach opens for swimming starting Memorial Day Weekend. The park is open on a “weekends only schedule” Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until school gets out in June. Once school gets out the park is open DAILY for the summer as follows:
Weekends 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Weekdays 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. (except Friday nights when the park is open until 8:00 p.m.)
The Beach closes at the very end of August due to the Redding Public Schools re-opening. We then re-open for Labor Day weekend Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Topstone Park gate is currently opened by volunteers before and after the beach season; The season being Memorial Day to Labor Day. Currently, we ask our morning volunteers to open the gate by 9:00am and the evening volunteers to close the gate after 7:00pm. In the fall, as it gets dark earlier, the time is adjusted and is posted on the sign at the gate.

Registration will begin no later than June 3. Be sure to sign up for the Park and Recreation email blast to get any updated info for registration.
Swim testing is required for level 2,3,4 and Preschool 2 levels
Sign up NOW online for “I need to be swim tested.” Click on “Add to Selection List” and Log in.
Our instructor will contact you to set up a time for swim testing during the first few weekends in June.
Classes that don’t require testing, will be available to sign up when registration opens.
Classes that required testing can be signed up will be available for sign up after you get tested by our instructor and receive the approval code.
If a swim class does fill up, be sure to complete your registration and get added to a waitlist. ( You will have received a receipt)
Private Lessons
We only have one slot for each week or private/ semi private lessons at 10:45am. If it is full ( as stated above), be sure to be added to the waitlist as we may be able to accommodate you.
